What is inside

  1. A seven-module hospitality onboarding program, with audience and required coverage for each session.

  2. A 10-point rollout checklist you can map to your service standards and mark off as you go.

  3. A department readiness matrix that scores each department and shows where the floor is thin.

  4. An onboarding calendar and a refresher plan so service standards stay consistent through peaks and turnover.

Who it is for

Anyone who has to get new hospitality staff floor-ready, or answer for the guest experience.

  • Hotel and resort operators
  • L&D and training managers
  • Front office managers
  • Housekeeping managers
  • F&B and restaurant managers
  • HR and onboarding teams
  • Duty and general managers
  • Franchise and multi-property groups
Your service standard is only as strong as the least-trained person on shift. Track readiness by department, not just headcount hired, so a busy weekend never puts an untrained hire in front of a guest.

The training program template

Seven modules covering what a new hospitality hire needs before they face a guest. Run the full set during onboarding, then use the refresher and role-specific modules through the year.

3. Guest interaction basicsGuest-facing25 minGreeting, eye contact, using names, the acknowledge-within-metres rule and reading a guest's mood.

Delivering these modules through an LMS gives you dated completion per person, per department and per property, the evidence a brand audit or a franchise standard review asks for.

The rollout checklist

Ten steps to get a new hire from offer to floor-ready and keep standards consistent. Tick items to track your own progress, it stays in this browser. The download has the same list with an owner column.

The most common gap is the last two. A property can be fully staffed on paper and still put an unsigned-off hire on the floor at the busiest moment, and the guest is the one who notices.

Department readiness at a glance

The checklist tells you what is missing for one hire. This matrix tells you which departments are behind. Score each department on the five behaviours that carry the most guest impact. In Excel the readiness and gaps calculate as you type.

F&B service is the exposure here: strong on standards but soft on guest interaction and upselling, the two behaviours that most shape a guest's rating of the meal.

How to run it

  1. Anchor to your service standard first

Start with your brand promise and guest journey so every module ladders back to how you want guests to feel.

  2. Train in the flow of the shift

Short mobile modules staff can finish before service, in the language they work in, beat a classroom day they forget by week two.

  3. Shadow before solo

Pair every new hire with a supervisor for a full shift and sign them off before they work a station alone.

  4. Score readiness by department

Roll completion up per department so a thin front desk or F&B team is visible before a peak weekend, not after.

  5. Make safety and hygiene non-negotiable

Food hygiene, fire exits and incident reporting are certified and dated, not assumed from experience.

  6. Review guest feedback monthly

Tie review scores and mystery-guest notes back to specific modules and refresh the ones that keep slipping.

Frontline teams reach 45 percent-plus completion on Disprz when training is delivered in short, mobile modules in the local language.

Common mistakes this pack prevents

  • Onboarding as a day-one binder that never gets reopened, so standards drift within weeks.
  • Assuming experienced hires already know your brand's standards and skipping the basics.
  • Treating grooming, hygiene and safety as reminders rather than certified, dated steps.
  • Upselling that feels pushy because staff were never taught to read the guest first.
  • No supervised sign-off, so nobody actually knows who is ready to work a station alone.

Questions people ask

What should a hospitality training program cover?
At minimum: your brand and service standards, grooming and presentation, guest interaction, upselling, health, safety and hygiene, and complaints and recovery, closed out with a supervised shift sign-off. The seven modules in this template map to exactly that.
How long should onboarding a new hospitality hire take?
The core modules run in a few short sessions across the first week, delivered in the flow of the shift rather than a single classroom day. The supervised shift and sign-off happen before the hire works a station solo. The calendar in the pack sets out the cadence.
Can I adapt the modules and checklist to my property?
Yes. The Word and Excel versions are unlocked. Rewrite modules into your own brand standards, map the checklist to your service standards, change the departments in the matrix, and rebrand it.
Does the Excel tracker work in Google Sheets?
Yes. The readiness matrix uses standard formulas, so importing into Google Sheets or Numbers keeps the scoring, gaps and readiness percentages intact.
Do I have to fill the form three times?
No. Complete it once and all three formats unlock, including on your next visit from the same browser.

Standards only hold if every new hire actually finishes onboarding. That is the part we run.

Bring your operations and L&D leads to a 30-minute working session. We will show how Disprz delivers hospitality onboarding in short mobile modules in the local language and rolls completion up by property and department, so shift-readiness is something you can see, not hope for.
